About the Glamorgan Swift Project

Following the publication of the local bird Atlas in 2015, the Glamorgan Bird Club began to evaluate the data. It was clear that several species were showing a dramatic decline in numbers, when compared with the data from the last survey, undertaken in the 1980s. One such, was the Common Swift. Numbers have declined by 50% over a 30 year period and if trends continue the species could be lost to the area within the next 20 years. The aim of the Swift Project is to try and halt this decline.
